The magic of Phonics

 Hi friends ,

Today’s is a very interesting topic. Phonics.

Phonics are alphabet sounds that make all the difference.

Phonetics is the sound system of a language.

Phonology is the art of learning phonics.

How to start:

The IPA ( International phonetics association) has devised symbols for each sound. But it’s always easier to remember a sound rather than a symbol.

In India , when we learn any regional language, we first learn sounds "Barakhadi".But in American or British English some sounds have to be created ...like aa , ae , er , ch , sh . This has what has given rise to phonics ..according to me .The IPA (International phonetic association ) has given symbols for each of these sounds but learn a sound is always easier than learning a symbol.

Just imagine after years of learning English , someone were to tell you its not A its ae ,would be confusing well. That's why I recommend ..learn the sound and not the symbol.

More important is the Intonation part ..When you talk a language ..learn where to stress .eg keywords .

What intonation does is empahises on the given words like when we say "It's a BIG car"(emphasis)

we can stress on Big or ""What a HOT day"(irritated) ...(the capital letter mean stressed words).

More examples..""Give him a HEARTY thank you"(grateful) , ""WHAT do you WANT?"(angry) ,"I received a WARM WELCOME"(heartfelt) , "He was a GREAT man"(respect).

What Intonation does?

In simple words adds weightage to your words , emphasis to your sentences.

So this and many more terms are part of phonetics.

Wait for more to come Till then bye from your English Guide.

How to shake hands confidently

How to shake hands Well shaking hands isn’t a cup of tea after all. It shows much more of your personality than you think. There are three kinds of hand shakes: 1) The confident handshake- This is the handshake where you are firm and confident. It’s a neither loose nor tight grip. 2) The limp fish- A loose in confident handshake. Lacks both confidence and a total turn off. 3) The bone crusher- This handshake is to be totally avoided. It can create a bad impression. Nobody will want to shake hands with you again after this. Some more rules Keep both your and the others hand at same level. This shows your respect for the opposite person. Some Asian countries don’t accept handshake whereas in western countries the people take it as part of their culture.
